We're thrilled to announce our upcoming Edinburgh Mortgage & Protection workshop on Thursday 21st August! Sarah Blackwood will be hosting the event, and we're especially excited that Graeme Stewart, our Paradigm Head of Consulting, will be joining us to deliver a crucial compliance update. We'll also be joined by special guest, Senior Partner at McVey and Murricane, Allan Radlow. Allan will be providing a session around some important themes, in particular the recurring pain points in fees-assisted remortgages and how better communication and collaboration can improve the borrower journey for everyone involved. You won't want to miss that!
Our workshops are a fantastic opportunity to connect with our Lender & Provider partners in a relaxed and informal setting. It's a great chance to chat face-to-face about the topics that really matter in today's market, and get some valuable insights.
Registration will be open from 9:30 am, with the event starting at 10 am and wrapping up around 2 pm. Lunch is provided so you won’t go hungry!
The Lenders and Providers supporting this session will be Paymentshield, The Mortgage Lender, National Friendly, Santander, AVIVA & Coventry for Intermediaries.
Boost your CPD hours and join us for our latest Mortgages webinar. For this session, we'll be taking an in-depth look at complex BTL opportunities, and will be joined by Paragon, CHL, Leeds Building Society, OSB Group and Keystone Property Finance. Each Lender will be looking at ways they can further support you when it comes to your customers requiring support with complex buy-to-let enquiries. Feel free to invite other team members, such as those who may be involved in the application process, to join.
Some of the sessions being given are as follows:
Regional Manager at Paragon, Sam Debenham, will be providing an overview of the buy-to-let market in 2025, looking at challenges and opportunities posed by market conditions. Sam will explore trends and how Paragon can support landlords through their key criteria.
Senior Corporate Account Manager, Andy Sykes, will be talking through Leeds Building Society's BTL proposition, looking at how this can support you and your clients.
National Sales Manager at CHL, Mil Consiglio, will cover Tenants in Common V's Joint Tenants, Limited Company V's Personal Name and how they can support you with your landlord clients.
Alan Luther, Business Manager at Keystone Property Finance, will cover everything you need to know about limited company structures, including how these can be utilised by landlords and the different types of company structures that can be used when placing a buy-to-let case.

So, what do we have planned for the September Best Practice Event?
We will have two sessions from Graeme Stewart, Head of Consultancy, beginning with an overview of the key compliance updates Paradigm has issued since our Best Practice event in July.

For this event, we will also be joined by ... Tom Whelan, Head of Success & Business Operations at Defaqto, explores why cashflow planning has become an essential foundation in the financial advice process. In this session, Tom will dive into the practical side of using cashflow tools—highlighting not just the software, but the thinking behind it. It was a great event and following Tim’s at Exeter Friendly’s presentation I have been able to place a tricky life case for a client with diabetes, so very worthwhile attending.
Mark Weller

5/5 for relevance, delivery as promised, quality of presentation and handouts
I found the course extremely helpful and gave some good additional points of action that we are currently missing. Graeme taught the course amazingly, the right balance of information with the ability to go off track a little bit to clarify a few points
Katie Badiani
Compliance Manager from First Financial
“A really valuable Mortgage & Protection workshop. we learned so much which will no doubt convert to business. Two informative presentations plus 4 round tables covering several lenders and Insurance providers. We met great BDMs and industry colleagues, had a fantastic lunch and was back in the office all within 4 hours. Really worthwhile and a will be a permanent fixture in our diaries as a must attend event”.
Rachel Lummis
Mortgage & Protection Adviser at Xpress Mortgages
It is hard to get excited about compliance, but Graeme, you seem to, and it is infectious.
The course has raised a number of points that we will go away, review and implement. A fine refresher of some of the most recent pieces of regulation that have come into play.
