Wednesday 18 June, 10.00-12.30
Online over 2 days - 18th & 19th June
Cost: £650 + VAT
What does the course entail?
The course follows a two-step format. First, participants receive pre-course materials designed to help them practice reviewing client interviews, assessing file reviews, and completing knowledge assessments based on their own governance arrangements (specifically, the firm’s Training & Competence plan). They will also test their understanding of SMCR in the context of their business activities.
The second part is the course itself. Conducted online via Microsoft Teams, the course spans two morning sessions (9:30 to 12:30). It includes a review of the pre-course work, discussions on key learning points, and an examination of a supervisor’s responsibilities to establish a competence and certification process for both the supervisors and the advisers they oversee.
These courses are appropriate for new supervisors as well as those who may have been in their roles for some time but have not refreshed their knowledge recently.
What does it cost?
The cost of each course, inclusive of pre-course work is £650+VAT. A second spot can be secured for an individual from the same firm at a reduced rate of £250+VAT. For firms needing a tailored course—especially those with multiple supervisors or wishing to conduct the training onsite—Paradigm is pleased to offer this for the cost of a Compliance Consultancy day.
We’d love to have you join us for one of these sessions. If you’re unsure whether the course is suitable for you or would like to talk to us about the wider compliance support available from Paradigm, please contact your dedicated Business Development Director (BDD). We provide extensive compliance and consultancy services to firms of all sizes and can tailor our support to a wide range of requirements.

Following the unprecedented success of our May event, where we shared Best Practice with the FCA, we are excited to share details about our upcoming Best Practice event in July. As always, this event has been thoughtfully designed to meet your CPD needs and will provide valuable insights into current regulations and upcoming industry changes.
So, what do we have planned for the July Best Practice Event?
We will have two sessions from Graeme Stewart, Head of Consultancy, beginning with an overview of the key compliance updates Paradigm has issued since our Best Practice event in May.
In our second focused session, we will examine two topics suggested in previous Best Practice feedback: the use of cashflow modelling when providing advice, and the application of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools:
Cash Flow Modelling
We will examine what the FCA says about undertaking cash flow modelling to demonstrate suitability for retirement-related advice, as well as covering Paradigm’s guidance in this area, including a review of the recent cashflow modelling changes within our file review checklists and guidance documents
Artificial Intelligence
We will briefly review the history of Artificial Intelligence, examine key FCA commentary on AI and discuss the due diligence that firms should undertake when considering the use of AI tools. Finally, we will explore the use of AI and its data protection implications.
For this event, we will also be joined by ...
Jamie Stafford, Strategic Partners Relationship Manager at Liontrust, will update advisers on the Sustainability Disclosure Requirements (SDR) and the labelling regime, highlighting trends and consumer demand for sustainable investments. The presentation will focus on regulatory guidance and best practices for advisers under the SDR, as well as providing an update on the progress made so far by asset managers in applying for SDR labels. Finally, this presentation will showcase how Liontrust can support advisers in complying with these regulations, to enhance consumer understanding, and offer clarification and solutions regarding its position under the SDR.
Conversations with clients about death and estate planning are not easy. However, working with clients to develop a plan which allows them to reduce their taxable estate, whilst maintaining control of who can benefit from their wealth going forward, can give great comfort and relief to clients, so they know that their future generations are catered for. Join Julia Peake, Technical Manager at Nucleus Financial, as she discusses how using different types of trusts throughout the financial lifecycle of a client can really add value to their holistic financial plan.
This session is open to business owners, advisers, supervisors, compliance staff, paraplanners and all other staff who fall under the Code of Conduct rules.

I found the course extremely helpful and gave some good additional points of action that we are currently missing. Graeme taught the course amazingly, the right balance of information with the ability to go off track a little bit to clarify a few points

“A really valuable Mortgage & Protection workshop. we learned so much which will no doubt convert to business. Two informative presentations plus 4 round tables covering several lenders and Insurance providers. We met great BDMs and industry colleagues, had a fantastic lunch and was back in the office all within 4 hours. Really worthwhile and a will be a permanent fixture in our diaries as a must attend event”.

It is hard to get excited about compliance, but Graeme, you seem to, and it is infectious.
The course has raised a number of points that we will go away, review and implement. A fine refresher of some of the most recent pieces of regulation that have come into play.
