Supervisor Course (For Investment and Protection firms)
ProtectionCompliance
Tuesday 20 October, 09.30-12.30
Online over 2 days - 20th & 21st October
Cost: £650 + VAT
What does the course entail?
The course follows a two-step format. First, participants receive pre-course materials designed to help them practice reviewing client interviews, assessing file reviews, and completing knowledge assessments based on their own governance arrangements (specifically, the firm’s Training & Competence plan). They will also test their understanding of SMCR in the context of their business activities.
The second part is the course itself. Conducted online via Microsoft Teams, the course spans two morning sessions (9:30 to 12:30). It includes a review of the pre-course work, discussions on key learning points, and an examination of a supervisor’s responsibilities to establish a competence and certification process for both the supervisors and the advisers they oversee.
These courses are appropriate for new supervisors as well as those who may have been in their roles for some time but have not refreshed their knowledge recently.
What does it cost?
The cost of each course, inclusive of pre-course work is £650+VAT. A second spot can be secured for an individual from the same firm at a reduced rate of £250+VAT. For firms needing a tailored course—especially those with multiple supervisors or wishing to conduct the training onsite—Paradigm is pleased to offer this for the cost of a Compliance Consultancy day.
We’d love to have you join us for one of these sessions. If you’re unsure whether the course is suitable for you or would like to talk to us about the wider compliance support available from Paradigm, please contact your dedicated Business Development Director (BDD). We provide extensive compliance and consultancy services to firms of all sizes and can tailor our support to a wide range of requirements.

The Lenders and Providers supporting this session will be Skipton Building Society, Aldermore, Zurich & Coventry Building Society.
Some of the sessions being given are as follows:
Skipton Building Society - First-time buyers are vital to the home buying landscape and the lifeblood of the mortgage industry and yet, too many people in the UK struggle to afford their own home. In this session we will discuss the challenges faced by borrowers getting their foot on the first rung of the mortgage ladder and the innovation needed to allow more people to realise their dream of owning their first home.
Aldermore - This session covers three ways Aldermore helps brokers place more cases. On residential affordability, their model maximises different income types, including self employment, complex pay structures and multiple income streams, so clients can borrow what they need even up to 95% LTV. On adverse credit, also up to 95% LTV, a specialist manual approach supports historic blips, missed payments and thin credit files without stepping outside responsible lending. And on buy to let, the focus is on the harder cases many lenders shy away from: portfolio landlords, complex company structures and landlords with diversified assets.

Guardian - This presentation will explore Guardian's Critical Illness Essentials and how it’s ideal for clients who want quality cover at a more affordable price.
Discover what makes Critical Illness Essentials stand out.
Learn about our fast underwriting service.
Find out the key differences between Critical Illness Essentials and Critical Illness Protection.
Fleet Mortgages - This session covers the state of the buy to let market and where the next opportunities lie for brokers. It opens by sizing the BTL market and asking whether it is really in decline, then works through the regulatory backdrop, Renters Rights and the incoming Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards, and what they mean in practice for landlords. From there it looks at where growth is actually coming from: professional portfolio landlords, limited company structures, HMOs and MUFBs, refinance business and partnership transfers. It closes by setting out where Fleet Mortgages fits into that picture and how they can support brokers placing these cases.

It was a great event and following Tim’s at Exeter Friendly’s presentation I have been able to place a tricky life case for a client with diabetes, so very worthwhile attending.
Mark Weller
Financial Profiles Limited
5/5 for relevance, delivery as promised, quality of presentation and handouts
I found the course extremely helpful and gave some good additional points of action that we are currently missing. Graeme taught the course amazingly, the right balance of information with the ability to go off track a little bit to clarify a few points
Katie Badiani
Compliance Manager from First Financial
“A really valuable Mortgage & Protection workshop. we learned so much which will no doubt convert to business. Two informative presentations plus 4 round tables covering several lenders and Insurance providers. We met great BDMs and industry colleagues, had a fantastic lunch and was back in the office all within 4 hours. Really worthwhile and a will be a permanent fixture in our diaries as a must attend event”.
Rachel Lummis
Mortgage & Protection Adviser at Xpress Mortgages
It is hard to get excited about compliance, but Graeme, you seem to, and it is infectious.
The course has raised a number of points that we will go away, review and implement. A fine refresher of some of the most recent pieces of regulation that have come into play.
